20th century version of a brass, six lever, push key lock manufactured by the Mail Equipment Shops in Washington, D. C. The case front was stamped "STREET LETTER BOX LOCK, UNITED STATES, 20" by the manufacturer. The number "20" indicated usage on street letter-boxes.
