Lt. George C. Myers Sr.
Various loose documents and photographs are mounted to the black-colored pages of this scrapbook. The album is a record of the World War II postal work of Lt. George C. Myers Sr., when he was one of the US Naval officers operating the Fleet Post Office (FPO) in Sasebo, Japan, at the close of World War II. The album contains mounted covers sent by Myers, photographs by Myers, and documents from the Post Office Department, US Navy, draft board, a hand drawn map of the mail facilities on the FPO (2021.2008.2), and other texts related to Myers’ wartime service materials from his time of commissioning to return home. The album contains details of the work involved in processing mail for the US military. The photographs provide visual records of postal operations, volume of mail, and work of the naval postal clerks.
