The American Philatelic Society’s Luff Award, named for APS president John N. Luff, is awarded annually for contributions to philately by living philatelists, The Luff rings are made out of 10K gold using a synthetic black spinel basestone, both shanks are the same with Luff Award and an area for pantographing the year, and initials engraved inside. George W. Brett received this ring in 1978 for distinguished philatelic research.
