Union News luggage Owney tag
Owney received this leather baggage tag advertising the “Union News,” owned by the Union News Company. The company contracted with railroads across the country to sell its newspapers in railroad stations and aboard railway trains. Owney would have come across many copies of the company’s newspaper in his travels.
