Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co.
George Westinghouse adopted alternating current (AC) for his system instead of the direct current (DC) Thomas Edison preferred. AC could be transmitted more efficiently over greater distances. Westinghouse bought rights to many AC patents, including the "poly-phase" patents of inventor Nikola Tesla. This generator uses single-phase AC technology and displays features based on the patents of other inventors.
